Several media outlets reported today that the NBA has decided to lift Golden State Warriors Center DeMarcus Cousins’ technical foul for flinging a shoe off the court.
Cousins received a technical foul in the later part of the fourth quarter for tossing a shoe belonging to Jeremy Lamb, Guard of the Charlotte Hornets. Referee Brian Forte did not take so kindly to that action by Cousins.
“Next time, I’ll just step on the shoe and roll my ankle, break it, tear an Achilles,” Cousins said after the game. “Just leave it out there next time. I guess that’s what they want. I’ll keep that in mind.”
“Basically, you can’t throw a shoe,” Cousins again added.
Whether or not Cousins was concerned with player safety or was just being a bully is yet to be determined, however it seems the Association believes his actions were in favor of player safety and have now rescinded the foul.
